Questions people actually ask

Short answers. If yours isn't here, hello@smallrung.com — one person reads it and replies in 1–2 business days.

What happens when I miss a day?

You press Not today and that's the whole story. Tomorrow's card is still there, same time, and there is nothing to make up — the plan doesn't punish you for a bad day by stacking two days onto the next one.

If you can't do the full version of an action, press Did less. You get the smaller version of the same thing in the same time slot. The card shrinks; it never disappears.

And if you'd rather move the finish line than lose the day: the card page offers to move the end date out one day. One tap, nothing else in the plan changes.

Does the plan adapt to my week?

Two ways, and both stay on the same ladder — the action never becomes a different action.

On a bad day you take the rung below the one you were on, in the same time slot, and it is logged as done. The verdict page shows that ladder before you start, so you can see what a bad day actually looks like rather than being told to "just do less".

On a bad weekday it learns from what you logged. If one day of the week keeps coming back unfinished — at least four times in the last four weeks, and clearly below your other days — that day's card starts one rung lower from then on, and stays that way for the goals after it. The card page says which day it changed and puts it back in one tap.

Nothing is inferred from fewer than four weeks of your own records, and it never guesses from your age, job or anything you didn't log.

What if my goal doesn't fit in the time I have?

It tells you before you start, with the math — for example, "that's 3.0 lb a week; the fastest I'll plan is 1.98." Then it usually offers ways out: move the date, lower the target, or keep both and accept it'll be late.

It will also refuse outright when a goal isn't safe to plan. That's not a bug. A plan you can't survive isn't a plan.

Do I need an account?

No. No account, no password, no card to start. Everything lives in your browser, and nothing leaves your device unless you turn reminders on. You can export all of it as a JSON file at any time.

What happens when my goal ends?

You get an ending page: the date range, what you planned versus what you did, and a few plain facts — including whether the smaller versions carried you. Then it stops asking. There's no streak to maintain and nothing to cancel.

Habits work the same way with a runway (21, 66 or 90 days) instead of a deadline. When the runway ends, the habit is yours — that's the last thing the app will say about it.

How is this different from a habit tracker?

A habit tracker assumes you'll keep the streak forever, so it nags. This assumes the opposite: you're finishing something. It checks whether your goal fits before you start, gives you one card a day, gets smaller instead of guiltier when you slip, and ends on a date.

If what you want is a permanent daily habit, a tracker is the better tool. If what you want is to finish one thing, this is.

What emails will I get?

Only the ones you ask for. After your first card, it asks whether the plan told you something you didn't already know — if you say yes, you can get tomorrow's card by email, one a day. Separately, you can send one person a weekly update; they don't need an account and can unsubscribe in one click.

That's the whole list. No newsletter, no "we miss you" sequences, no selling or sharing your address. The address is only used to send the mail and is deleted when you turn reminders off.

I got a new phone. Where did my data go?

The plan and your checkmarks are also saved on the server (unless you ticked keep it on this device only), so clearing this browser doesn't wipe them. But there's no account here, so a new phone can't pull them down by itself.

To move devices: on the old one open Settings at the bottom of the card page → Export my data as JSON; on the new one, Import data from a JSON file. That's the whole migration, and it's also how you take your record with you if you ever leave.

If you paid on the old device, paste the code from your receipt into Settings to unlock again — the licence is tied to the code, not the device.

How do refunds work?

Email hello@smallrung.com within 30 days of purchase and you get the full amount back. No forms, no exit interview, no requirement to prove you used it. We'd rather refund you than have you keep looking at something that isn't helping.

Who makes this, and who do I pay?

One person built it and answers the mail. Payments go through Lemon Squeezy, which is the merchant of record — their name appears on your card statement and they handle sales tax. We never see your card number.

Your goal data is stored in your browser. If you turn on reminders, the minimum needed to send mail and serve your calendar feed sits on a server in the United States, tied to a random token — turn reminders off and it's deleted.
